Insanity – Week 2 – Pure Cardio

This isn’t your mother’s workout!

Even in my 2nd week of Insanity, the workouts don’t seem to get easier.  But, it is ONLY week 2.  Today’s workout is pure cardio…and it’s still a beast.  I find my fitness level prior to Insanity to be quite appropriate — but this workout makes me feel like a complete sloth without any workout capacity!  Shaun T is extremely brutal in this workout, but the one thing that I do like that I wish he would do more of:  no triple repeat exercises.  You’ll know what I mean when you do the vid.  Most of his other vids that I’ve done in the first week involve a set of exercises for 30 sec to a minute a piece then repeating all of that over 2 more times (with water breaks in between).  That’s just a little too monotonous for me.  But in Pure Cardio, there’s a  main section of exercises that don’t repeat… you just push full steam ahead until the end.  No repeats, no “OMG I have to do that again!” thoughts,… just you, the timer, and your achy sweaty body inching it’s way to lean.

Thanks Shaun for kickin’ my ass.

Insanity Day 5 – Pure Cardio

This is a beast of a workout.  The warm-up itself was killer.  I was already breathless through the 1st round… nevermind the 3 rounds of total warmup!  After that and the stretches (thank goodness!!), Shaun T exclaims that he’s AFRAID of what’s to come.  And no doubt, he’s correct.  I definitely made the first 30 seconds of each workout (that was my goal!)…but some exercises I was definitely gettin’ my butt kicked!!  How do these people go the full minute??  I was watching my HR very closely this time….b/c I remembered when I first did Insanity back in July 2010…I would get nauseated from pushing myself too hard b/c my HR would hit 180 or so and not leave much time for cardiac filling and output.  Go figure.

Today was a butt kicker…and I had time for it.  YAY!

#Insanity Day 13

1 Aug

Today, I felt like working out.  Thank goodness b/c I ‘m not sure what happened yesterday — I just didn’t feel like I could bring it.  Easily enough, I just traded the rest day that was supposed to be today with yesterday’s exercise.

Today, I hit up Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs.  Pure Cardio is the beast of Insanity (in my opinion).  Shaun T goes from exercise set to the next — which makes it tough to get through the vid.  But at the end, you’re left feeling great… like you’ve been through one of the toughest workouts out there.  Heck, even the workout peeps in the vid are pushed to the limit with this video — and they pretty much all have 6-packs and are in peak physical condition!

Cardio Abs — this was a terrific ab workout — all without situps!!  The beginning offers some cardio — with some big knee jumps.  But after, it’s all about the core.  Don’t be fooled by this “no situps” video — it will definitely work your abs!

#Insanity Day 8

27 Jul

Pure Cardio — it’s still a beast.  But, I almost made it through the entire warm up without stopping.  The great thing about this is that there aren’t any repetitive sets in this video (except the warmup).  Still, it’s pretty tough with plenty of squats to put a volleyball player to shame!  Reminiscing back to my volleyball days, I sure wish I had Insanity and P90X to do during the off-season to really boost my speed and power!

Bkfst= green juice

Snack=Strawberries, almonds

Lunch=stirfry chicken with brown rice

Snack=cantaloupe

Recovery drink

Workout

Dinner=vegetable beef soup,  hardboiled egg white

Pure Cardio — yep, the warmup is still killer… but I’m able to do more of it without stopping! This video is insane cardio… my lil ticker was cruisin’ around 160-170s! The great thing about this video — no repeats! None of the true meat of the exercise is repeated. That’s terrific for me b/c I usually tune out or get bored with repeated exercises. I’m so glad tomorrow is a rest day!
